This Week for SigEp Delaware Alpha: 3/9/2009

In true Delaware Alpha fashion, SigEp tore through the task given to them Saturday, as they spent six hours doing community service at Lums Pond State Park in Bear. The brothers met at the house at 9:15 am for a group photo - a practice which they hope to make a tradition in the coming years. Following the photo session, they were on their way to the park. Met with an army of workers, the crew at Lums Pond were seemingly overwhelmed and overjoyed. The brothers assisted in docking over 40 paddle boats, raking leaves, cutting down branches (and the occasional tree when necessary), and trasfering picnic tables and other items. Each brother there collected over six hours of community service which could go toward UD's chapter assessment program or the challenges in SigEp's Balanced Man Program. Philanthropy Chair Joe Banaciski organized the the trip, making his first major event in the position a huge success.

On Sunday, the brothers asked the lovely ladies of Alpha Delta Pi to participate in Greek Week activities with them. SigEp was answered with a resounding "YES," leaving each brother thrilled for the upcoming week in late April. Shortly following the good news, recent alumni Bryan Baker, Billy "Whiteshoes" Johnston and Kyle "Gurk" Gurkovich made a guest appearence at Delaware Alpha's chapter meeting. Baker made a speech about the importance of SigEp and what it took to make a fraternity become and stay successful. If "the week that was" is any indicator, SigEp is on the right track.

Sigma Phi Epsilon, with more than 12,000 active members in over 270 chapters across the country, is the largest fraternity in the world. For the last 13 years, more men have pledged Sigma Phi Epsilon than any other fraternity.

You will never see a Sig Ep alone. Whether you're studying at the library, relaxing at a club, or winning on an athletic field, there will always be a brother at your side.

Perhaps the best word to describe Sigma Phi Epsilon is balance. Sig Eps are everywhere. We are varsity athletes, Student Assembly members, Interfraternity Council leaders, entrepreneurs, scholars, and gentlemen. We choose to represent the characteristics of a Sig Ep through a concept known as the "balanced man".

The Balanced Man of Sigma Phi Epsilon is an athlete, a scholar, a leader, and a gentleman. Schools accept you because you excelled in some areas. We accept those that are willing to try to excel in all areas without holding anything back. In addition to these high ambitions, we work hard at having fun. Whether it's a barbecue, a mixer, Greek Week, etc. your time spent with a member SigEp will never be boring.

We encourage you to contact us and see whether SigEp is right for you. Sigma Phi Epsilon: "Building balanced leaders for tomorrow's communities".
